Three Wishes On an island, surrounded by miles and miles of water with no outside civilization to be found anywhere, lived four college kids: Chrissy Wood, Janet Snow, Jack Kline, and Larry Ritter. How they got there you ask? Here's how. One day Chrissy and Janet went out shopping to Bloomingdales. They went out on a shopping spree since Janet's dad, a successful, wealthy lawyer, won the trial of the century. They received 3,000 dollars to spend each! So they bought every thing that they wanted. While passing the inventory room Chrissy stopped and saw a dusty, old looking lamp that she had to have. Janet told her to hurry because the store was about to close. She grabbed the lamp and headed to the checkout counter. Meanwhile Jack and Larry where out at a Knicks game rooting for their team. At the end of the game the Knicks won 102 to 88. They headed back to their apartments and talked about the game. The Mexican Revolution which was between 1910 and 1920 caused much disorder to the Mexican economy. The labour force experienced a huge deterioration and the population declined too. The livestock supply was used up, because many cattle were lost due to the negative effects of enemy forces. Many of the farm workers left their fields unattended because of the fighting therefore coffee and cotton went unharvested and this meant much less productivity resulting from agriculture. Transport was affected so no goods or products could be distributed. The currency was wiped out and general chaos was the order of the day. Slowly Mexico began the healing process. In the 1930s the industrial sectors such as manufacturing began to recover due to the nationalization of the railways and the petrol industry. As well as the industrial side of the country, the agricultural industry began to flourish as well. The need for urban employment rose because the home market was increasing. During World War II Mexico made much contribution, however it was mainly economic. They supplied labourers and raw materials to the USA and by the end of the war in 1945 they had doubled the value of their exports. After World War II, President Miguel Aleman Valdess(1946-52) full-scale import-substitution program stimulated output by boosting internal demand. He raised import controls on consumer goods but not on capital goods. From 1946 to 1970 the four leaders of Mexico sustained close relations with the USA which proved to be much help in getting Mexico out of its economic depression. Mexico's narrow development strategy produced continued economic growth of 3 to 4 percent and modest 3 percent inflation annually from the 1940s until the late 60s. Chine underwent the reform based on the strategy of organic, gradual or incremental approach. This process is sequential and often involves experimenting with the available resources. Privatization of industries is not done on the large scale. It is an approach towards decentralization of resources so that rights could be distributed at small scales. The approach of China towards the reforms was quite innovatory. The government opted for experimental and bottom-up approach instead of more conventional, comprehensive and top-down approach towards reform. It was believed by economists that liberalization, stabilization and privatization are the key to boosting a country’s economy and a treatment called â€Å"shock therapy† is quite essential for reforming. China had its own ideas and revolutionary thinking. The reform of China began at the end of 1978, when GNP went quite high and prices were kept stable to a large extent (Cao et al, 1997). An example of a balanced approach from my experience is the time when I was on morning playground duty, it came to my attention that the skipping ropes were not being used appropriately. The children had tied the skipping ropes to the climbing apparatus and were using them to swing on and climb.In my opinion this was an excessive risk because the children were at risk of getting the rope caught around their necks or hurting another child who was using the apparatus appropriately. I immediately removed the skipping ropes and explained my reasons that it was too unsafe and encouraged the children to use them for skipping games. Children aged five or six would not be able to play on playground apparatus that is only suitable for chil dren over 8 years of age because the apparatus ould be too high or have more complex climbing equipment and would not meet their age of development. Age appropriate apparatus and equipment should be available to aid their development. Apparatus/equipment for a child with special educational needs who is over 8 years old would not be suitable if their development age may only be equivalent to a 5 or 6 year old therefore they need access to apparatus/equipment to meet their developing age with approved adaptation and 1:1 support if necessary. A form is sent home to parents/carers informing them of any accident.For head injuries parents/carers are informed immediately by telephone and the child is given a sticker to wear stating ‘I bumped my head' this allows all staff to be aware of the child's accident. In the event of an emergency the first aider should be summoned to attend the accident/incident to provide first aid and if necessary call for emergency services. Parents/carers must be contacted as soon as possible. In the event of illness parents/carers are contacted immediately to collect their child.Any medicines that need to be given to a child needs a parent/carer to fill out a form stating the medicine and dosage as well as signed to give permission. Only designated persons should give medicines. Outbreaks of infectious illnesses are reported to all parents/carers via a letter home.
